7 Reasons To Book A 7 Night Virgin Voyages Cruise

You probably realize by now that not all ocean cruise lines operating out of the USA are the same. Some are party-oriented with buffets catering to vast numbers of passengers. Others are more upmarket and formal, requiring you to “dress” for dinner at allotted dining times, often seated with strangers. Life onboard is more regimented. If that’s for you, great.

But if you want to go away, unpack once, be yourself and have fun, then Virgin Voyages is the cruise line for you.

If you’re like me, you might have tried one of the shorter four or five night voyages and loved it, but wished you’d had more time onboard the ship. Or you might have decided to go on one of the longer 10+ night voyages and felt it was too long.

The perfect cruise length for you might just be 7 nights. It’s not too short that you wish you had longer, and not too long that you want to get off the ship before your voyage ends.

I’ve put together seven reasons why a seven night Virgin Voyage is the perfect option for you.

#1 No Kids!

If you’ve never been on a Virgin Voyage, and maybe have never even heard of the brand, then you might not know that on Virgin Voyages there are no children. I’m a parent and a grandparent, so I love children, but there are times when it’s great to go somewhere that provides an adults-only environment.

That’s what you’ll find onboard one of Virgin’s lady ships. All adults. Mind you, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t people being young at heart. No, that’s exactly what you will find. With all the fun onboard, you might just feel like a kid again – carefree, fun-loving and spoiled.

#2 Amazing Food

Virgin Voyages has elevated cruise dining across their entire fleet of four lady ships. With over 20 different dining experiences and no buffets, you’ll never wait in line to be served.

What makes it even better? There are no set dining times for the entire cruise. You can have an early dinner one night so you don’t miss a show, then linger over a late dinner another night. The Galley, available on all ships, offers multiple food stations with constantly rotating options – it’s where I spend much of my time because there’s always something incredible to eat.

Each ship also features unique specialty dining experiences. The newest addition, Brilliant Lady, introduced Spanish-inspired menus in 2025, while the entire fleet continues to surprise with innovative concepts that go far beyond typical cruise dining.

#3 Room To Relax

There are only 2,770 passengers and around 1,150 crew members. That means on such a large ship you often don’t realize you are one of over four thousand people.
The ship is very spacious so there is a lot of room to move and maneuver. You will also find nooks and spaces to chill and be by yourself, if that’s what you’re looking for.

I doubt that at an “All Inclusive Resort” you get as much space as you do on a Virgin ship.
And, if you really want seclusion, you can always set yourself up in the hammock on your balcony and just watch the waves, or open ocean pass by.

#4 Roomy Cabins

The cabins on board a Virgin lady ship are roomy. I personally choose a Sea Terrace so that I can enjoy having a “balcony” with room to sit and drink my tea, or relax in my hammock. It’s super fun to sit in the hammock and read, when you’re on a sea day out in the middle of no where.

There is more than enough space for a solo cruiser and two people would find they have space to relax and enjoy the cabin without feeling hemmed in with no room to move.

There are side tables and place to sit, if you don’t want to lounge on the bed either. And, the shower is a good size, with great hot water and superb pressure.

#5 Unique Itineraries

While Virgin’s lady ships are ocean liners, they’ve been built to visit smaller ports that larger ships can’t access, creating truly unique itineraries.

In 2026, Virgin Voyages begins sailing from the West Coast, including new Alaska voyages. Their Caribbean voyages remain popular for those seeking closer-to-home adventures. But if you want truly distinctive experiences, the Mediterranean voyages are where Virgin Voyages really shines.

Here are some standout 7-night Med itineraries:

  • Greek Isles & Adriatic Adventures – Sailing round-trip from Athens (Piraeus), exploring lesser-visited Greek islands and coastal Croatia
  • Ibiza & French Riviera – Barcelona round-trips that combine party islands with sophisticated French ports
  • Italian Gems – Rome (Civitavecchia) round-trips showcasing Amalfi Coast, Sicily, and hidden Italian harbors

In 2026, Virgin Voyages begins traveling out of the West Coast of the USA, including new cruises to Alaska. Along with their already popular Caribbean cruises, voyagers can experience plenty, not far from home. But, if you want some truly different itineraries, then check out the Virgin Med voyages!

#6 Be Yourself

One of the best things I personally experienced on a Virgin Voyage is the freedom to just be yourself.

If you want to dress up and be center stage, you absolutely can. But if you prefer jeans and a comfortable spot in the background? That’s equally welcomed. I love that I can claim a corner seat and people-watch, or sing along to karaoke from way in the back of the room while having the time of my life – my way.

The onboard atmosphere genuinely celebrates authenticity. No one critiques your outfit choices or questions how you spend your time. Whether you’re an extroverted party-seeker or someone who recharges with quiet observation, you’ll find your space and your people.

Virgin Voyages isn’t just marketing when they say they’re inclusive – everyone truly is welcomed exactly as they are.

#7 The Entertainment

The shows on a Virgin Voyage aren’t your run of the mill Broadway shows. Are they amazing and stunning and fun. Absolutely.
Are the performers highly trained, skilled and loving what they do. You bet.

You can book a spot at the special shows on board, or have fun at the quiz and karaoke sessions that run through most of your itinerary.
Maybe all you want to do is sit at a bar, or in one of the many relaxed spaces on board and enjoy some wonderful music, or a DJ. That’s possible too.

Whatever entertainment you want to enjoy, you won’t run out of options onboard a Virgin Voyage.
